    MELLOW

This is a very different Woohoo - a bicarb soda free, fragrance free and essential oil free Woohoo All Natural Deodorant Paste. If your skin is sensitive, Woohoo Mellow is your go-to deodorant.

Mellow is a very different Woohoo -  a bicarb soda free, fragrance free, essential oil free, skin LOVING Woohoo All Natural Deodorant Paste.

Why? Because bicarb soda is a fantabulous natural deodoriser BUT it can upset some people. Even though we've carefully adjusted the pH of our other Woohoo deodorants to minimise the chance of irritation, there are some incredibly sensitive souls who can’t even tolerate the tiniest amount.

So we set ourselves a challenge - to create a deodorant that could bust odour even BETTER than Woohoo Urban and Woohoo Wild, but without bicarb. The mission was accepted with gusto by our very talented formulator (none other than Aaron!) and it turns out that this was probably his toughest challenge yet. But guess what? He triumphed.

Woohoo Mellow has the smoothest of textures, applies like an absolute dream, and busts body odour like you wouldn't believe. Even without essential oils.

Mellow's superstar ingredients are absolute crackers!

Magnesium Hydroxide (also goes by “milk of magnesia”) - You guessed it - the same stuff used to stop indigestion and heartburn. Who would have thought it also works an absolute treat at neutralising BO.

Activated Charcoal - What can’t it do these days? Well you can add another string to its bow because it not only works at keeping you dry it also adsorbs odour. Double thumbs up.

Olive Leaf Extract - One of nature’s most powerful antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant plants. Smelly, sweat-munching bacteria are no match for this gift from mother nature. It boosts Mellow’s BO preventing power so a masking fragrance is not required.

These superstars are join the much loved old gang of Kaolin clay, zinc and Tapioca starch to make Woohoo Mellow a worthy addition the the Woohoo family.

Where oh where are the essential oils?

NOWHERE :) When we said we set ourselves a challenge we weren't kidding. In most natural deodorants essential oils play a pretty big role in helping stop body odour but we managed to create this incredibly effective deodorant without them.

If you know us at all, you'll know we have a love affair with essential oils but we had a few good reasons not to use them in Woohoo Mellow.

    1. Essential oils, even though they're natural, can irritate sensitive skinned folk. And we wanted Mellow to be the deodorant that EVERYONE can use.
    2. Ladies lucky enough to be pregnant often like to stay away from essential oils to avoid any possible side effects on their pregnancy (even though the likelihood is very small - better safe than sorry!).
    3. Breastfeeding mamas usually like to avoid essential oils to make sure bub doesn't get upset by weird smells.
    4. Some people just don't like smelly things. And that's A-O-K with us :)

Mellow has a very gentle coconut oil aroma that disappears as soon as it's rubbed into your skin. No lingering scent. You just smell like you. In a good way!

Just quietly, we've been hearing that Mellow is a new favourite of many a devout Urban and Wild user.

Have you gotten up close and personal with Mellow yet?

    WILD:

Do you know which kind of sweat smells the worst?

    Stress sweat.

That’s because stress comes from a different gland which gives it different proteins. These proteins make the sweat eating bacteria really whiffy.

And we knew this formula was a winner when we put it to the ultimate stress test.

Nothing makes Aaron stress sweat more than public speaking. It’s uncontrollable and perfectly natural but getting a whiff of that sweat after an event made Aaron very self-conscious.

There was that wet feeling. And that waft of BO. So instead of hanging around and mingling after his talks he would usually high-tail it outta there.

When Aaron took a trip down to Melbourne to train up some sales people (very exciting!) he decided that this was the PERFECT time to take the Woohoo Wild formula for a test drive. If he was going to be feeling wet and pongy, this was the occasion.

It was a long day. Before the event there was an early start for a flight to Melbourne, navigating unfamiliar Melbourne traffic and then the presentation. With all that stress going on Aaron actually forgot that he was trialling Woohoo Wild.

Spoiler - This story has a happy ending

There were NO wet underarms, and NO stress sweat waft to be felt or smelled. Hooray!

In fact Aaron didn’t remember that he was wearing Woohoo wild until went to have shower and realised he didn’t smell of anything. That moment we knew that Wild was going to be a winner :)

Since that fateful day we’ve had so much FABULOUS feedback come in from people all over the world who have been out and about, sweating and sniffing their armpits and doing a little happy dance because they DON'T SMELL.

And now you can get in on the fun too.

    Why call it “Wild”?

Everybody has different sides to them. But we all have a wild streak, an inner wild child that likes to do things to kick-start the heart.

It might be hurtling down a Whistler black run, hiking secluded trails, jive dancing, rock climbing, public speaking, inverted yoga poses or taking a toddler to Toys R Us.

We want Woohoo Wild to give you the confidence to do all those things and more, keeping you dry and BO free so you can focus on having fun.

Whatever it is don’t walk on the wild side – run!

    What makes Woohoo Wild different?

Besides from being a glorious green (our original Urban scent is pretty in pink), Wild has some pretty important differences from the original Woohoo All Natural Deodorant Paste.

It still shares the same minimal irritation potential but it has been boosted up so it can pack even more of a punch when it comes to BO battles.

A Zesty Aroma with Staying Power

Wild has a fresh aroma to help you feel energised and raring to go. Honey Myrtle has the antibacterial properties of tea tree but with a lemon zing to it. Cedarwood, Eucalytpus and Peru Balsam add to Wild’s odour-neutralising powers while still helping to evoke outdoor dreams.

The aroma is a little stronger than Urban so at the end of the day you will still get a little waft of this incredibly invigorating scent.

    Extra Strength

Not only do the essential oils have a little extra oomph so does the deodorant. Wild has increased amounts of all the deodorising and absorbing ingredients so that it has that little extra kick to get your through the day smelling fresh.

    Super absorbency

Instead of using Kaolin clay, Wild uses Diatomaceous Earth (this is a powder made from plant and algae fossils) as it has an amazing ability to absorb both oil and water. Your sweat contains both oil (sebum) and water so diatomaceous earth helps to keep you drier for longer. This gives Woohoo Wild the extra oomph to be taken off road and on wild adventures.

    Unisex

The scent of the Wild deodorant is just as well suited to the male thrill-seekers as the female, and with a green jar Mr Woohoo no longer needs to worry about using a product with pink on it!

    Extra smooth

We were lucky enough to find super micro fine diatomaceous earth so Wild is beautifully smooth.

    Urban

Getting your “sweat on” has its benefits, and it isn’t something we should be stopping with aluminium filled antiperspirants.

Fun Sweaty Fact #1 – Your sweat doesn’t actually smell. What causes BO (body odour) is the bacteria that start munching on proteins in the sweat. They break down the proteins into acids and that’s what smells.

Why we should we sweat with pride

Sweating is normal and healthy. These are just some of the good things that sweating does for your body:

    • Cooling you down and preventing overheating
    • May help to expel toxins such as BPA, phthalates and heavy metals
    • Kills bacteria and viruses than can’t live in temperatures above 37C
    • Keeps pores clear
    • Reduces your chance of kidney stones
    • May help to fight skin infections

So it is pretty cool stuff, and it makes you think “why you would want to stop it?” Especially if you could sweat without the fear of stinky-ness.

Fun Sweaty Fact #2 – Women have more sweat glands than men. But the men’s are more active and that is why they sweat more.

    Deodorants vs Antiperspirants

Deodorants and Antiperspirants are not the same thing.

Antiperspirants use aluminium salts to either block, close or clog your pores to prevent you from sweating. In Australia they are classed and regulated as therapeutic goods because they alter your body’s normal function.

Deodorants don’t interfere with you pores or glands. They still let you sweat. Deodorants work by creating an environment on your skin that prevents bacteria from having a wild party stinking up the joint.

Fun Sweaty Fact #3 – Stress sweat smells worse than exercise sweat. This is because it comes from different glands where the sweat has a higher percentage of proteins and fats compared to exercise sweat. The bacteria go nuts for the extra protein and fats and gorge on it like its Christmas dinner.

    The problem with aluminium salts

Aluminium chloride, aluminium zirconium, aluminium chlorohydrate and aluminium hydroxybromide are all commonly used in antiperspirants. Aluminium is not normally found in your body so a big red flag is raised when researchers find it in our tissue. It shows that our body absorbs aluminium.

Aluminium is a neurotoxin and it has links to some serious health concerns. The jury is still out on this research, but we'd rather be safe than sorry. Aluminium has also been found to disrupt your endocrine system by mimicking the hormone estrogen, which is more cause for concern.

It’s also the culprit for staining your clothes yellow!

So as you can see, it’s important to embrace the sweat and ditch antiperspirants.

But we understand that no one wants to go around smelling like you have been camping for a week without showers. That is why we have created a 100% natural deodorant that's aluminium free but still obliterates odour all day.

The problem with bicarb soda in deodorants

When it comes to deodorant pastes irritated skin is a big concern because bicarb soda can really be uncomfortable for some. Bicarb is amazing at stopping B.O. (the dreaded body odour) but too much leaves you with red, itchy armpits. We don’t wish that on anyone.

The reason bicarb soda can be such a problem is because of its very high pH, meaning it's very alkaline. Your skin is slightly acidic with a pH of about 5, so no wonder bicarb can irritate - it's upsetting your skin's pH balance, which means it loses its protective barrier.

Lucky we're incredibly clever and have worked out a way to use bicarb soda without causing irritation, even for sensitive souls. Woohoo!

Woohoo Urban is pH-adjusted which means that even though we've used bicarb soda in the formula it's still gentle enough for sensitive skin. If you're SUPER DUPER sensitive you might prefer to wear bicarb free WOOHOO deo... but we've heard from LOTS of people that they can't wear deodorant from other brands - and that Woohoo Urban has changed their life. No exaggeration!

Fun Sweaty Fact #4 – Anthropologist Louis Leakey suspects that our body odour comes from our ancient defence system to stop animals from eating us.

"No irritation, no body odour smell, happy arm pits"

"I apply in the morning after a shower & throughout the day I didn't experience any BO. I'm quite used to natural deodorants that allow you to perspire and this stuff does its smell-blasting job - very well. With other similar deodorants I have experienced an oily mess when sweating but Happy Skin Care deo paste stays put. Thumbs up!"

"It is easy to use, not messy, but most of all it works well, only a small amount required then it's set and forget for the rest of the day because it does its job so well. I love it, would recommend it, and definitely buy it again. It took a little while to get used to the new application, but it's good and long lasting, economical. No white marks on my clothes."

"Kept me smelling fresh all day sometimes after a work out required an extra application but worked amazingly. Minimal wetness but it is winter too but I am quiet active"

"I haven't experienced any irritation or burning with this deo, even when applied directly after shaving - whereas other brands have been a bit rough in texture, even grainy, and can leave my pits feeling raw & inflamed from the bicarb soda & lack of the right nourishing ingredients/ratio"

"I found it to work wonders! I work out at the gym frequently and even then, no bad odor whats so ever. It feels natural on, covers and neutralizers body odor and balances perspiration smells, with the slightest of fragrance emitting, it really does work well and gives peace of mind. I found this deodorant highly effective, in that regard especially."
